The Vietnam Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) along the 17th Parallel was once the heavily fortified border dividing North and South Vietnam from 1954 to 1975. Today, this historic corridor in Quang Tri Province stands as an open-air museum of resilient spirit, complex warfare, and peaceful reconciliation. Exploring the DMZ allows travelers to step directly into the pages of 20th-century history, standing where pivotal battles took place and discovering underground civilian networks that survived years of bombardment.
The Vietnam DMZ Tour by Heritage Train reimagines this historical journey by integrating Central Vietnam’s newest cultural experience: the Hue Heritage Train. Instead of a long morning highway drive, your expedition starts along the classic railway line, offering sweeping countryside views alongside authentic Hue folk music and local culinary treats. Upon arrival at Đông Hà Station, a private vehicle transfers you deep into Quang Tri’s iconic battlefields from the fierce war relics of Khe Sanh to the extraordinary underground village of Vịnh Mốc.
If you are seeking a meaningful cultural and historical adventure that combines nostalgic rail travel with deep war history, this day trip is crafted just for you! Book your DMZ Vietnam Tour from Hue by Heritage Train today to secure your seat on this one-of-a-kind heritage journey!

Please dress respectfully with clothing that covers shoulders and knees when visiting memorial grounds like Quang Tri Ancient Citadel. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended for walking through the Vinh Moc Tunnels.
The main tunnels are illuminated and tall enough to walk through with a slight bend, featuring multiple air vents facing the sea. If you feel uncomfortable in enclosed spaces, you can easily explore the above-ground museum and coastal trails instead.
The standard tour includes a return drop-off at your hotel in Hue at 18:00. However, if you plan to travel onward to Phong Nha (Quang Binh) or Dong Hoi, we can arrange a private transfer to drop you off directly in Phong Nha upon request.
